  • water change in fish tank?

I have a beta fish in a 5 gallon tank. Once a month I change about 1/3 of the water and suction clean the rocks and clean the glass of any algae.. When I change the water I put in a pinch of aquarium salt in the clean water. My question is should I do this every time? Does the salt evaporate or will it build up. I was told putting in the salt will help against fin rot. I do a complete change and clean the rocks every 6-8 months, is this enough?

  • insulating an outside wall?

  • Terrible smell in couch?

My friend changed her baby on my new loveseat and got some poo on the cushion. She tried to wipe it up with baby wipes, which just spread it more. I have tried baking soda and vacuuming but the smell is still there. Is there is anything I can do. The cusions are part of the couch and can't be taken off. Any other products or even home remedies (which sometimes are the best) that I can put on to get rid of that smell. Yes our friendship is down the toilet so to speak..

  • propane bbq burner repair?

I was told you can make a propane burner out of copper pipe if the holes are drilled he proper size. My question: what type of solder would you use for the supply hose connection? It seems to me that there is quite a bit of pressure and heat at that point and solder wouldn't hold.

  • My dog gets the shakes, how to fix this?

I have a border collie/cocker spaniel mix that is 7 years old. She loves to go for car rides but when we do she shakes real bad and I am worried she will have a heart attack. I have tried petting and making a big fuss over her and treats but she still shakes. She always has shaken a bit in the car but it seems to be getting worse. I always have water for her and some food.

  • bringing dryer to main floor?

Due to old age and arthritis I want to bring my washer and dryer from the basement to the main floor.. Hooking up the washer won't be a prob. My question is - can I vent my dryer into the basement or do I have to vent it outdoors. I'd have to put in about 15 feet of vent pipe along the ceiling which would look like crap because the basement is finished. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The vent would go straight down into the furnise room.

  • Ford doesn't have power windows?

I don't know if anyone has tried this--I bought a ford van which doesn't have power windows. I am disabled on my left side and cranking a window is almost impossible. What I would like to do is get a 12 volt reversible motor and hook it somehow to the gear where the crank handle is. Even if I had to screw it to the outside of the door would be ok. It would have to be a slow rpm motor and powerful enough to crank the window up and down. Has anyone run into any of these type of motors. Any help would be appreciated. This is an older van and getting the proper crank isn't available, plus I probably wouldn't be able to instal it.

  • 1983 Ford Ranger 2.3 litre, 4 cylinder engine?

I have a ford ranger- the firing order is 1-4-3-2. Compression, wires, plugs all new. If I have the wires on right the engine backfires and won't run, if I reverse #3 & #4 wires the engine runs but misses. Help, why is it doing this? Could it be the timing belt, how do I check if the belt has slipped? It has been parked for a few months.
