what to use for a subfloor?

What is better to use for a subfloor in a bathroom OSB or Plywood.. If OSB what side should be facing up the smooth side or the rough side, and what thickness, would 3/8 be thick enough? I will be using lino for a covering.

Plywood with a smooth side finish.

Most commonly used is a 1/4" plywood called luan. Birch is the ideal plywood but it is double the cost if pine luan..You need to nail it down using a spiral or ring shank nails.

Filling the seams with a special filler..

You never want to use OSB because there is to much glue in OSB to let the vinyl or lino glue adhere
