My dog gets the shakes, how to fix this?

I have a border collie/cocker spaniel mix that is 7 years old. She loves to go for car rides but when we do she shakes real bad and I am worried she will have a heart attack. I have tried petting and making a big fuss over her and treats but she still shakes. She always has shaken a bit in the car but it seems to be getting worse. I always have water for her and some food.

All of my dogs do this in the car. It's just excitement or maybe they are like little children who can't wait to get to wherever they're going. I sometimes take them to the river walk by my house and thy will shake the whole way there but after we've taken our walk and get in the car they usually just lay down and sleep on the way home. I do know that whenever we go the vets I make it a point afterwards to take them for a walk someplace nice on the way home or go to a store that allows pets so they don't associate the car with the big bad vet. Also, not knowing her history, I have a dog I rescued as a throwaway,{dumped by someone at uncle farm} who is always shaking when we go somewhere {I always think she's afraid we're going to do the same thing} but after we go for a walk or the pet store she is always extremely calm on the way home. Try making sure everytime you go to the vets to stop and take her for a walk or give her the treat after you come back home. I wouldn't worry about her though, cars excite dogs for many reasons and they shake.

Sounds like she's just SO excited to go! She'll be fine.
