Christians, what about these 3 news articles I read today? Keep reading:?
I casually log on to my computer and the first things I see are the following: 1) Pastor drowns while trying to walk on water. 2) Pastor Arrested on His Way Out of the Country After Death of His Wife. 3) Mother Knew Pastor Was Abusing her Daughter, But She Only Prayed That He Would Stop
Not that other religions don't cause problems, but when the problem people are proclaimed Christians who preach love and forgiveness but do awful things to other people or themselves, it makes atheism look pretty good! At least we aren't hypocrites.
What say you about all the crimes committed by Christians? Or, for that matter, all the stupid stuff like trying to walk on water. Tsk.

How does that make atheism look good? Being an atheist doesn't mean you can't be a hypocrite and none of those things have anything to do with atheism. To answer your question, I just get a bit angry when Christians commit crimes because there's always someone like you who says "see? this is why religion is bad" as if all Christians came together to commit a crime. And walking on water is just plain silly.

It is all humans do these awful things to each other.
The fact that these articles are not that noteworthy and are in fact very common should tell you why they are included as significant bylines.
Pastors have been molesting children, priests have been doing this and other humans as well. People kill each other . The Old Testament is all about it. I
1 in 6 boys are sexually abused and 1 in 3 girls are abused.
Some people with other vocations are being left out of the newsfeed.
Just saying .. think about it .

First - if what you are talking about was commonplace it would not be making headlines.
Second - Most atheists don't wear a label so when they do heinous crimes it generally is not advertised they are atheists.
Third - atheists make up 2% of the world population and about 5% of the US population yet make up more than 50% of the serial killers and about a third of the spree killers - suddenly atheism is not look so good again - You do have a point - they are not hypocrites!

Your right at what you are asking and it is bad when you hear a pastor did some of these crimes. But in the time we live in it not surprising that it is happening. I try not to judge or condemn but the Bible tell us the wide is the way that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that leads to heaven. All I can say here is pray and ask your higher power to keep you on the right path. May God Bless you.

I think this is hilarious!!! I'm a atheist/agnostic and plus our religion is pretty cool...you basically do what you want without a care for sinning :) I love it....the third article got me giggling for not the fact the child was abused...but the fact that the mother did NOTHING...she thinks that if someone was about to shoot her in the face that she should pray that she is super human and deflect the bullet or manage not to die from it...see how dumb that is? If I were her...I would've taken action like nobody's business..haha

Christ is sinless, men are sinners, even Pastors and self-professing "men of God". I am so thankful that I have a perfect Saviour to follow, because men are fallen, do fall and will fall because of the burden of their sin natures. Christ satisfies, men disappoint. Even if some of these men ARE in reality saved, they retain the struggle with their sin natures, the wiles of the devil and the temptations of the world. Is this an excuse for such behaviour? Absolutely not. There is no excuse for their behaviour. Is it an explanation for their behaviour? Yes, and one that God has given us.

The joke goes like this:
"Well, he drowned trying to walk on water, but it could have been worse. At least 5000 members of the congregation didn't starve to death."
Anyway, the story seems to be a hoax.
