Have you ever wondered why religious teachings are invariably mysterious, confusing, and internally incongruen?
This is no accident by the way — it’s quite intentional. By putting forth confusing and internally conflicting information, your logical mind (i.e. your neocortex) is overwhelmed.

They don't need to be, but to be honest, it is part of the mystification of the religion that has occupied the Christian religion since the deaths of its earliest leaders -- the Apostles. And, it has continued on into the present day, despite the Protestant reformation, which only made matters worse.
Judaism really doesn't have that much of a problem with its teachings. I can't speak for Islam, but as far as the other major world religions go, they are generally not nearly as confused in what they believe as the mashup that is today's "traditional" Christianity.
What confuses most people is that they don't stick with just one denomination, but attempt to make sense out of all of them at the same time. That's virtually impossible to do, since the denominations can't agree on some of the most basic concepts and ideas...

Speak for yourself. What you find mysterious and confusing, people that understand them are just fine with it. Jesus specifically stated he taught in a way so that only those seeking for true understanding would get the full depth of the meaning of his parables.
So what I see from this question is a person that is so close minded that you make assumptions about religious teachings, religious people and can't quite admit that you don't know everything and that some people might know things you don't.

During my early teen-aged years, yes, but by the time that I was sixteen I realized that
religion had only nonsense and magic to offer.
Four out of five people around the world never come to this understanding, either because they
are lacking in the thoughtfulness needed to see through the foolishness of faith, or because they lack
the courage to face the future without the promise of eternal life, spent in a heavenly paradise.

If you understood the reason for the teaching you would understand the teaching. That does not mean that everything that every faith teaches is correct... but rather why they believe it is correct nor what they believe is believable to you. The fact that you use the generalized "religious teachings" (indicating all of the teachings of all religions) basically shows that the reason you do not understand them is because you are extremely closed-minded and do not want to understand them.
