Non-citizens are not eligible to serve on juries in California.

If you get a summons for jury duty, there is a questionnaire you have to fill out. One of the questions asks if you are a U.S. citizen. Just check the box that says no, fill out the rest of it, sign it and mail it back.

Source(s): I've been on jury duty many times in California. Here is a link to the state court website. http://www.courts.ca.gov/jurybasics.htm

i'm a Permanent resident but not a citizen here. and i received a Jury service notice. I called the Court and they told me that i dont have to come for the jury service as i am a permanent resident and not a US Citizen. They told me to mark the mack of the letter saying i'm not a US Citizen.

I did speak to the officials at the court. But, please let me know if i am wrong.

Only citizens can serve as jurors in California. There was legislation to allow non-citizens, but it was vetoed by the governor.

California may well be calling non-citizens to jury duty. If you are called to duty and don't show you can have a warrant for your arrest issued.

    If called up, yes.
