is there a such thing as military hour policy ?
i was talking to a recuiter and he was saying that if you work on your off days that you will receive the off days that are owed to you . is this true he told me to request for airborne and air assault as well .

That is hysterical!! Active duty do not work a 40 hour work week. That is the goal, but it rarely happens. Now, if you pull weekend duty, 8-12 hours both days, then most supervisors will try to get you a day off midweek. But that's about the best you can hope for!
There are times when our men and women work 12 hour days for weeks on end, with little to no comp time. And that's just the way it goes. You work on salary, not hourly wages.

That is not true. There is no policy to compensate for working hours and there is no such thing as an "Off Day". Everyone in the military is a SALARY employee not an HOURLY employee and is on call 24/7/365. They can work you every day if needed. Some weeks you might work 90 hours. other weeks you might only work 20 hours. Since there is no such thing as a "standard" work week, there is no compensation for what you perceive as a long work week. In the end it generally evens out to something that resembles "fair".

Depends on the needs of the service. From Jan 73 to Jul 74 I was stationed at Iwakuni and we had an extremely busy communications center. We were supposed to have 40 crew members to work the center 24 hours a day. Three crews on and one crew off. We got so shorthanded that we only had 14 people total and had to work 12 hours a day for 6 days a week. We only had Sunday off when the admin people took over for the day.

I would always try to let whichever of my guys had duty overnight the night before leave first. But it's not any sort of official policy and it's nothing that you can really plan for.
It's not uncommon during overhaul periods to go into shiftwork...12 on 12 off with no days off for a few weeks. We called working half days :)

It is possible that if you bave to work on an "off" day that your unit will comp you. But it is not required. Nor are any of your days truly 'off'.
You can enlist with an Airborne contract. You can not enlist for Air Assault.
Either your recruiter is a moron or you have selective hearing.

In the Navy we had comp ("compensatory") time off. It was granted on as-available basis, not formally.
Sometimes you got it, sometimes you didn't.
On one 114-day deployment with no days off I either worked or flew 1972 hours, or about 17 hours 20 minutes a day. When I got back home I got one "comp day" off.

You support and defend the Constitution 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. And just because you get out, doesn't mean you didn't take the oath.

Tell your recruiter you want it in writing, if it's not in writing it doesn't matter. If he does give you something in writing, take it to your Drill Sergeant and show it to him/her when you've worked over 40 hours so you can get your comp day.
