What is the purpose for harley davidson brake rotor center hole size?
I am planning on buying some new brake rotors but I do not know which ones to get. I see some that says the center hole diameter is 2" and some that say 2 1/4". What is the reasoning for the hole dimentions? Is it for the wheel spacers to fit inside the rotor...up against the hub?
This is a custom build bike so I need to know some of the specifics.

Different wheels use different size axles,larger bearings ,and the center hub of the wheel is larger or smaller to accommodate those parts. Since it is a custom bike,You may end up having different sizes ,depending on your front end/frame combination.Once you know what wheels will fit your set up,then you can match the rotors to the wheels.There are also different bolt patterns for the 5 bolts that hold the rotor on. Different diameter rotors for different style calipers.and,in some instances,different materials or finishes for the type of pads your brakes are using. If you look at the wheel,you will see where the wheel seals are mounted in the rim. The rotor fits around the bearing boss,flush to the rim.You may also need spacers under the rotor,to center your rotor in the caliper. if the rotor is not centered, The brakes may drag on the pads, Improperly installed brakes can KILL you! Please,research what your doing in regards to installing brake components. They rarely just bolt on ,there is some fitment involved. I have had bikes of the same year and model,that needed different spacing for the rotors.
