How to tell when a Nikon DSLR was made.?
I have recently purchased a Nikon D90. Its in like new condition. But I was just curious if there was anyway to actually break down the serial number and find out what year it was made.
The only info I could find out was that its a US camera based on the first digit which is 3.
@ tkquestion The shutter count is only 15,600 so its not high at all. I checked on http://www.camerashuttercount.com/ its a good site.

If you call Nikon technical support (it's a free call), an agent may be able to tell you when it was made.
Is it that important? I'd be concerned about shutter count, but manufacturing date isn't that important to me.
