What's a good place in the Bahamas for a single guy in his 40's to go?

Looking for something not so commercialized looking and feeling but still nice. Not so crowded but not so isolated that you never see anyone. Seems like most of the "out of the way" places are geared towards couples. I can do something on the pricey side but I can't drop 5 grand a night. Any ideas?

Do some research about these islands...... Abaco, Long Island ( not New York ! ) and Eluthra.

Nassau is not representative of The Bahamas as a whole. Just as Disneyworld is not representative of the entire USA.

Marsh Harbour, on Abaco, is a nice town and it has a number of guest houses that are inexpensive, and allow you to do your own cooking , and explore the islands natural beauty. The exact opposite of the hustle of Paradise Island in Nassau. Abaco is one of the best sailing areas in the Bahamas, and it attracts many US based yachts and motor cruisers, who stay in the area for months at a time.

Bahamas Air flies from Florida to Abaco daily. Check it out.

If you are seeking an affordable hotel that is nice, friendly atmosphere, within walking distance of beaches, down town and where you will perhaps meet new friends then try the "British Colonial Hilton" in down town Nassau, Bahamas. You can ask your Travel Agent, Yahoo travel, find them online or call 1 242 3223301.

Curious...why travel there as a single? I usually go to cities as a single female traveler.
