GPS for car. What other great brands are out there?

I like to know which brand you like best for your car.

We have the older models of the Garmin NUVI, but it seems the newer ones are having some issues. We have always like the ease, the large screen, and the price of the Garmin.

I'm looking to replace several of our Garmin's with another brand under the price of $150.00.

The short answer is: GARMIN NUVI.

I've had an old one (4:3 screen) for several years now, have had special needs which it splendidly satisfied, with functional flexibility I need. It fits neatly in a covered cubby on top of my car's dashboard. When I need it (10% of the time) I prop it up against the cover (there are two strips of VELCRO to allow some horizontal and vertical inclination adjustment and the power cable), for the rest it stays in horizontal position, below an iPod that provides music. Both are concealed from sight and sunlight.

There are some valid competitors around, from what I've seen TOMTOM is not bad with all the 3D effects, but it simply isn't it (for me). I prefer the Chinese no-name my son has got in his Windows-based double-DIN entertainment/satnav device (including TV, Hi Fi, PiP, Bluetooth, phone interface, a score of SD and similar memory card formats, rear-view IR camera etc).

Remember though that while GARMIN was the only one to churn out boating & tracking satnavs, most of the competitors were playing in the pen. From my p.o.v. experience is worth a lot and if they don't mess it up in the foreseeable future or apply unreasonable pricing, I'll stay with GARMIN when I want another one.
