how to get rid of rootkit virus, do any of you know an anti-virus that could deal with it?

I've been hearing ads in the backgrond of my Labtop despite closing my windows IE. I've been frequently updating my malwarebytes and symantec endpoint protection, and used both quick and full scan but to no avail. do you know any anti-virus that will get rid of the rootkit virus? if so, give me a link.

It might just be hidden adware. Use AdwCleaner and Junkware removal tool. Then Malwarebytes Antimalware. Then use either AdblockPlus or your windows host file.

If it is a rootkit, use TDSSkiller and Malwarebytes Antirootkit.

Edit: Get and run Rkill first. This will stop known malware processes.

that sounds like some crap adds i was getting a few months ago and it puts the window slightly bigger than your screen so that is don't quite show up unless you alt+tab into it. I would for starter STOP USING IE. Get Firefox or chrome and install adblock plus and pop up blocker

For rootkit infections, please try using Trend Micro Rootkitbuster or Kaspersky TDSS Killer.

In your case, we are not really sure if it is a rootkit, so check first if you have any recently installed programs. Uninstall those programs if necessary.
