How would a JW react if I told them that I didn't want to have bible study sessions with them anymore?

I did have studies with them about 2 years ago. Then they caught up with me last week and asked to continue lessons. I really don't want to but at the same time don't want hurt or offend anyone.

If it doesn't bring you closer to God, it isn't the right religion for you.

Be completely honest with them. Be clear and to the point. Don't make they think that you COULD be interested. They will never stop hounding you. I stopped a JW lady from coming to my home by telling her that her that I believed her religion was a cult. (I thought she would twist an ankle, she ran away so fast - it was like a vampire running from a cross)

Seriously, JW's used to (or maybe they still do) study and practice how to manipulate people in field service - they used to be called "conversation starters/conversation stoppers" or something like that. It was a section in one of their books.

    Good luck!

JWs have a dual objective in their preaching work.

One is a warning work. What? To warn the entire world of the coming destruction of Satan's entire system.

Two is to make disciples and teach them everything Jesus taught. This makes more warners and provides a population base for the new world.

The reality is all people have the right to choose whether the warning is of a real event in our future and a pipe dream..

And making disciples is only for the ones who want to be a follower of Jesus. We do not want anyone to try and be a witness just to please someone. That person is NOT a true disciple of Jesus. However, it does happen. Your question proves it.

To cease a Bible study is to revert to your old life-style...with no extra gain of life-saving knowledge...

Only by changing [ yourself] to do what Jesus taught, can you make sure of your survival...if Armageddon happens tomorrow...

    There will be little warning.

(1 Thessalonians 5:2) For YOU yourselves know quite well that Jehovah’s day is coming exactly as a thief in the night.

Why do you think we would be upset. It is a total waste of our time, gas and energy to study with someone who doesn't want to study.

    We prefer honesty.

We can easily find something better to do with our time. It's not like we get paid to study with you. It cost us, gas, time, and energy. But we gladly do it for Jehovah and our love of neighbor.

But we still prefer honesty. If you don't want to study, please, tell us.

As a JW, I can honestly say that we would rather know and be able to use that time to find others who want to learn.

Nobody should push their beliefs on anybody else. Let them know that you would rather not continue. I had them knock on my door a couple of times and I always tell them what I think. And they have always been respectful of my beliefs.

    Just tell them.

Vot assumes that if you studied with them long enough to have a friendly rapport, they'd be interested to know WHY you don't want to study anymore. Some people ask to end their studies for reasons that can easily be fixed, e.g. "One Witness did such-and-such to me and hurt my feelings so I want nothing to do with their religion anymore", or "I am too busy to study right now" or "I read/ heard somewhere that you guys believe ABC, and I don't believe that is Biblical so I don't want to continue"

Of course, you are not obliged to give your reasons; the responsibility to learn more about God and his requirements and live up to them is entirely yours (John 17:3). The Witnesses are looking for those who WANT to study, so that no one's time is wasted.

    So just tell them :-)

Well since 2 year's has gone by, I doubt they will be too upset; disappointed; sad - probably, because we know that your life is at risk; just as everyone's is!

Why do you feel this way?

Tell them the truth so they wont waste time on you and so they can help someone else.

If these folks weren't told "no" millions of times before, everyone'd be a witness.
