Planning on buying a used car...?

Hey everyone! I am planning on purchasing a used vehicle, and had my eye on a 2002 Chrysler 300m... It does have about 170,000 miles on it, but it's only $2,000. Is this a good deal? It's my first vehicle, so it doesn't have to be the best car ever, but was just wondering if anyone has any idea on how reliable the car will be once/if purchase.

I like the looks of it, features, basically everything... Thanks for any help!

Update:

the vehicle is at a car dealership... i should have added that. they have used and new(i believe) cars. they range from 1000 and up. some are on sale(this one is on "sale").

Do a Carfax check on it. You'll probably have to take it to get a lot of repairs. You'll want to get it aligned, get new brake pads, get new shocks, get the tires balanced. And then the engine might have problems. There could be oil leaks. They're probably trying to get rid of this car because they're sick of doing repairs on it. But it's your choice.

If a dealer is willing to sell it for $2000, its an $800-1000 car at wholesale and you could pay $14-15 from a private party.

Any car with 170k miles the motor or tranmission could go out at any time.

    Rebuilds would be over $3000.

Be very careful. Once you had your money over, its YOUR car & your problems.

Not the first car I'd buy, mainly because it's a Chrysler and uses a timing belt, but at least parts should be quite available if the worst happens. If that's what you can afford, so be it.

If it is a used car only lot which it sounds like then I would not buy it. If it is a new car name brand dealer like a Ford dealer that has it then maybe, big maybe. Get car fax report as well as go to edmunds and read several reviews for that car. Personally it does not appeal to me and I would say no. Good luck to you.
