iphone 5 cant activate?
i bought an iphone off craigslist but it says it needs the original apple id for it to activate the phone and i have no way of getting it am i screwed?

Yup, that phone was stolen. It's a new security measure that came with IOS 7. That phone is useless and can only work again if the rightful owner types in his/her password. Word of advice, don't ever buy an iPhone off another person. You're just going to get scammed.

Restore the phone with iTunes you may need to put the phone in dfu mode if that doesn't work try redsn0w and put it in pwned dfu mode then restore it with iTunes
