I have a 92 ford taurus and i will be driving& all of a sudden a downshift then loses all power?

It will start right back up

Update:

Lose power as in dies. When I pull over turn everything completely off and wait a few minutes and it starts right back up. But the crazy thing is the car rides so smooth until out of the blue it's like I downshift and dies

If you only lose engine power but all the other electrical items in the car still works then it's probably either an ignition module, ignition coil pack, dying fuel pump, fuel pump relay, bad fuel pump inertia switch, bad fuel pump wiring or connection, PCM relay, dirty or loose battery connection, weak battery from a bad alternator, or a battery that no longer holds a good charge. These would be the most common causes but it could be a less common issue.

If you loose all or most other electrical in the vehicle when it stalls out then it could be a bad CCRM module(if equipped), bad connection on the ground/positive cable at the battery, bad ignition switch, or bad PCM relay.

You should have it scanned at the auto parts store to see if it is giving off any trouble codes. That will help narrow it down if it is.
