you need to develop some sleep hygiene. You need to get a night time routine and stick to it. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. avoid anything with caffeine after late afternoon. Do not eat/drink a couple hours before going to sleep. Avoid watching tv an hour or before going to bed. If you can't fall asleep within 20 mins get up and do something like read...and try to go to sleep in 20-30 mins. Exercise this helps insomnia and depression. Depression and suicidal thoughts are actually more common than you would think for people in your age range. If you don't think you can talk to your parents about it, talk to your guidence counsler and they will help you. Talking over things with someone who can help you problem solve and show you a different prospective is more helpful then you may realize. From one girl to another girls are crazy at your age. One day they are your friend, the next they are not for no apparent reason. Find some new activities and meet some new friends.

i had/ still kind of have insomnia and reading helps. not with a book, but with a phone/ something bright. it makes my eyes tired and just as im about to fall asleep i put it away and close my eyes and within minutes im asleep. depression really affected my sleep too, and once it went away (depression doesn't disappear, you cant get rid of it or cure it, but there can be periods when it does mostly go away) i could sleep a lot better. hope the reading works for you :)

  • Try do lots during the day, make yourself exhausted. Keep your bedroom cool as being hot at night can delay sleep. Watch TV until you feel tired and wake up early. Waking up early will keep you tired the next night. Repeat this process....well that's how I cured my minor insomnia.

There are drugs[which I don't take], and there are many natural remedies. If you would like, you can contact Swanson health products for the natural ones. I even have an Algebra DVD that puts me to sleep like a lullaby.

You can also read a boring book.

    Stick to a routine.

    Don't use your phone/alarm

Don't have electronics in the room

    Practice deep breathing.

Relax the muscles in your toes.

Turn down the heat. (studies show that if you are colder and feeling more "cozy", you will go to sleep faster. I turn on my fan and it works for me)

    Sleep should do the trick.
