how do you stop ants from being interested in climbing into the sugar container ?

Not intetested in putting it in a different jar....just trying to find out what will repel them and not affect the sugar . They are black ants.

  • I have the same problem especially in the summer time.

Regardless what kind of lid you have, placing plastic wrap around and across the top of the clean jar, will prevent the ants from sensing/smelling the sugar. Also, make sure your counter is free of food particles to eliminate any allurement. :D

spray some WD-40 on a paper napkin and wipe around the bottom of the sugar container. It destroys the scent trails the ants leave. If you can find where they are entering the house, spray a little there to keep them out.

If the container isn't sealed they can smell the sugar and get in. The freezer sounds like a good idea.

Place it in the freezer. Won't harm the sugar and the ants will stay away.
