How to scale an image on GIMP?

I'm trying to make a floor plan on GIMP. I want to make a room with the dimensions of 11 ft (L) x 11 ft (W). On GIMP I have an canvas size of 8.889 in. (L) x 5.556 in. (W). How can I scale my real size dimensions to fit into the GIMP canvas?

    GIMP isn't the right software for the task - like trying to use a hammer to mend a broken cup.

    Use something else, it'll be easier. Ideally CAD software is what you are looking for, or you could improvise with vector image editing software such as Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape.
