How do I install Microsoft Windows Visual Basic 2010 Express?

I have a link to the download/install on the Visual Studio website and I got everything installed, but for the life of me, I have no understanding of how to open up the program. I can't find the .app or the .exe file for the program so I can actually use it. It's a C++ program and I need to have it for my engineering class and I have an assignment due and it has to be used through this program.

Please, can someone help me out? I thought that I knew enough about computers to be able to do this myself, but I clearly don't.

http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/

There's the link to the download, my teacher recommended what we have at college, Visual Basic 2010 Express. If you scroll down a bit past halfway, to the light blue tabs, the one I'm looking for is the 3rd down in those light blue tabs titled "Visual Studio 2010 Express".

Thanks very much.

Update:

To no1home2day: Yes I have done that, I can't find the actual application file to OPEN the program. I've had it installed already, I know this, there's just no .app file to actual open it so I can use the program.

To WiseOne: Yes, thank you for that bit of info and I know I can get a better program, but I want to be consistent with what I'm dealing with at school. My school has the basic version from 2010, so that's what I want. It wouldn't fix my problem even if I did download other versions because I already have and have run into the same problem that I described above.

Listen up people: you know when you install something, it usually gives you a desktop icon or one in the start menu? Well, the program isn't doing that for me and I can't find the icon anywhere in the folders in my C drive. Does anyone have any other ideas?

If you are coding C++, why are you trying to use VS for Visual Basic? You instead want to get Visual C++ 2010 Express. I would also recommend you get the Visual Studio Express 2013 Windows Desktop version instead. 2010 is old and isn't nearly as nice as 2013.

After you download the setup file, double-click the set-up file, then follow the on-screen directions.
