What's the gameplay of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance like?

I'm a big Metal Gear fan. I understand this game is action-oriented, but I was wondering how exactly that plays out.

Is it mindless button mashing like Dynasty Warriors, is there more technique to it like in Devil May Cry, or is it more of a timed/response-based combat like in the Batman: Arkham series and Assassin's Creed?

    For me, it plays a lot like devil may cry, it's got good graphics (on ultra) and requires some timed hits to make perfect combo's.
