Need Career and/or schooling advice for my Husband?

My Husband is absolutely miserable with his current job (facilities manager). He is depressed and feels stuck as we are also struggling financially. He feels as though he has no passion or ambition. However, he is very happy with the company that he works for. He applied for a sales floor position, but apparently the interviewer already had someone picked out. So of course, that really hurt his confidence. I have been trying to help him in every way possible that I know of, but it always comes across as he feels as though he's not good enough, which depresses him even more. So I have stopped talking about it with him. I had suggested career counseling, but I'm not sure that insurance will cover that, and we cannot afford it. It kills me to know that he is suffering in a job that he hates. His only passion is to be an inventor, but has no idea how to find a job for that or the qualifications which would need to be met. So does anyone know what classes my Hubby could take in order to be eligible for a furniture/retail sales floor manager? Or classes to become an inventor? He is a wonderful Husband, an awesome Father and a respectful, honorable man with excellent morals. He deserves to be happy. Please offer some good advice. Thank you for your time.

Sometimes you pay your dues, which means suffering a lousy job to get to the better job.

It depends on how well he trusts his supervisors, the H.R. people and the possibility of promotion to another position.

Other than that, if he is unhappy and it becomes too much, then looking for another job maybe the only option.
