How to install Windows on HP laptop?
My friend has asked me to clean up her laptop (sister in law kept using poker sites and on opening the internet 25 pages opened!). Reformatted the hard drive and tried to reinstall Windows 7 (this was the OS that was already on her laptop). Wouldn't install so bought a new hard drive thinking the hard drive was damaged but still having the same problem. First it said that there was no hard drive but now it goes to the opening install screen then nothing, just the blue screen of death. It's an HP Pavilion DV6. So....brand new hard drive but just can't install Windows 7 (or XP!), changed BIOS, Sata etc but no luck, can anybody tell me how to reinstall Windows on a clean drive please on an HP laptop?? Thank you in advance!
Have Windows XP and Windows 7 on disc however don't have the HP recovery disc, nor does my friend but neither of the OS will install

I would initially do a hardware check,. if you go into the BIOS there are some inbuilt checking tools for the hard drive and RAM
Check the hard drive is visible in the BIOS and no memory errors. If you still can't get it to install you could try a USB method
