We use our driver's licenses or state IDs, which are given after we've shown our legal papers. Then, at the polling location, we have books containing pages with our names and actual signature copies and where we sign on election day before we're given a ballot. So election officials are instructed to verify whatever ID we have and then verify the signature in the book and then give the ballot.

You have to register to vote here, it's a simple form asking your information and Driver's License/ID Card number. If you do not have one then simply give your Social Security Number. Then the state verifies that you can vote legally. Your name is placed on a list and on election day, you are assigned a specific place to vote and your name is there on a list. If this is your first time voting or if there is a problem, then you will be asked to show ID.
And yes, while we don't have a national identity card, we have state issued IDs which are valid across the country; and if needed, passports also work as well.

We have all kinds of records, licenses, etc, that identify us but for some reason it is deemed to be racist to require an ID to vote. France and India require a voter ID but I don't know why it is considered to be Jim Crow in the US to require a free ID to vote. I would agree with that if only blacks, Hispanics, etc, had to get a voter ID but that isn't the case. My state has the voter ID law.. I just use my drivers license but our attorney general and activist judges are finding it to be unconstitutional base it on racism stating it hurts poor people and makes voting more difficult. Meanwhile some people vote 6 times.. lol. Democrats think anyone here should be able to vote whether they are citizens or not especially if they are likely to vote for Democrats.
