I've noticed that the claim is often a rather obvious attempt to obfuscate the readily apparent lack of any research at all.

Always in the Horoscope section. There are many that claim to have spent years studying. But they never mention what and how they do this. Or what data is collected and tests conducted. I do wonder where the funding would come from. What kind of people would invest in such research?

Most of all, never any results published. Kind of a waste to have nothing to show for that time and money. I think it's all say-so basis for their claims.

    Yes.

I have often researched internet ads that quote "scientific research"; but it rarely takes more than 5 minutes to establish that the research has either never been published online or referenced by a scientific website; or else it does not actually say what the ad claims it says.

If they have, and they wish to convince us on here with their erudite answers, they simply need to cite their sources. You know, that little box below here, which very few people seem to use? Research details can be filled in there.

I believe people do research. But unfortunately they do selective research. Everyone ignores research that goes against their beliefs and praise those that underline their argument.

Yes, I have also noticed that many answers signed with PhD in -insert field- are most likely still in school or never finished one.

    I said many, not all.

I can't think of anyone who's said that to me recently, off the top of my head. However, it *is* one of those phrases that I tend to disregard because I think it's generally meaningless rhetoric.

After complete and exausting study, I can confirm that you are correct.

This is the Internet. I would have assumed as much.
