How long does it take to get used to a Mechanical Keyboard?

Hi,

I'm 14 years old, and recently bought a mechanical keyboard (Das Keyboard Professional Model S Clicky and tactile). It has Cherry MX Blue switches, that I really enjoy. It just that this is my first mechanical keyboard, and for all my life I have been using cheap, membrane keyboards.

When I first bought the mechanical keyboard, I was frequently making mistakes and typing at a slower 50-60 WPM (I can type about 70-90 on a membrane keyboard). But after a month of using it, I have achieved about 80WPM on average. I am still making some mistakes though.

Is this normal? Will I get faster on this keyboard compared to a membrane? Or am I just not suited for a mechanical keyboard?

Thanks,

Michael

I have found that I type slower on a mechanical keyboard - simply because each keystroke requires more movement, which means more time.

That said, I prefer the feel of mechanical keyboards.
