Is there a difference between an Indian ''Mixie/Grinder'' and a blender?
I am making dosa batter and it states on the instructions to put the mixture into a grinder. I checked online and saw things like Preeya Mixie / Grinder which I figure is the type of grinder they are talking about. The item looks like fancy blender with different size blending containers. Could I use a Vitamix blender to do the same type of ''grinding''? It is pretty high powered...

I think as long as you can grind the dal and the rice separately then anything could be used.
If you already have a blenderer then use that
It also depends on whether that is going to be made frequently of not. I don't think I would get one for an experiment to try to cook something only for one or two times
