Is it safe to live in Oakland, CA?

I lived in the Bay Area for 20 years and Oakland, like any large metropolitan city in the world, has good parts and bad parts. Generally if you are not living in low-income neighborhoods, Oakland is as safe as any place.

That is a very general question which can apply to any big city. You have to live in certain areas and then your chances of crime are the same as any big city. San Francisco is a lot safer in the whole city. Oakland has bad parts and acceptable parts.

There are safe, high-income sections, and more dangerous ones. More dangerous than safe.
