Is it okay to remain moderately active while sick with the flu?

I'm getting opposing opinions on this one and i'm consulting you keyboard warriors so i can get to the bottom of this! lol.

My friends tell me: "lay down in bed all day drinking hot stuff, don't force yourself to eat, and sweat it out"

My mom (who was born in europe and very old fashioned) says: "Do not stay in bed all day, get up and walk around, dress well and go outside to get some sun and fresh air, and force yourself to eat soup and bread! Don't lay in bed in your own sweat, you'll get sicker"

Really need an answer on this because it's day 3 with my flu and I really wanna get back to work.

You need to rest as much as you can, and eat what ever you can keep down. Though sitting on your stoop for fresh air will not hurt you at all. Just don't do any kind of activity that could drain you. It will only prolong the illness.

A run may help clear your head if you have a cold too. If you've thrown up within the last 24 hrs, I would relax some.

Sorry, rest is a must. Lots of it.

After surgery, you need to try to walk around to heal faster.

    She may have that confused.
