I have a WIFI set up at home. But how do I get it when I'm away?

I have a Galaxy S3 phone and a Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. How do I set these things to get a WIFI signal when I'm out of the house? I seem to pick up secured local business WIFI's but nothing I can use.

Suggestions please?

Your WiFi is only reachable from around your house. After you leave that broadcast area, you are on your own. If you are an Optimum customer, you can use their WiFi for free, but you have to set it up with your optimum account online.

Some businesses offer free WiFi. That would be the only option you would have.

Your personal WiFi will not reach past your house.

if you set up the WIFI at home then you will be able to use that WIFI at your home because WIFI has a limit how far the signal reaches. a normal router's wifi signal is about up to 200m (depending on the router) from the router.

if you want to setup a WIFI hotspot from your phone (requires your phone to have a internet enabled)

The WIFI you have at home originates in your WIFI Router. WIFI has a limited Range - in most cases about 100 FEET.

When you leave home all you can do is find a FREE WIFI, like at Starbucks or MacDonalds.

2 things can be in your favour. If the ISP your with comes with a package and your on it that gives you access to HOTSPOTS then bonus, here in the UK we have something like BTFON, BT WiFi we can connect to them and use our login deatils for the account and use our internet as if it was from home. On the other hand if you find a network un-secured then use that, no harm if they dont know about it :)

Nothing. The signal from the router could only go so far.

Find a public hot spot, like a McDonalds, Starbucks, or a public library.
