What is main difference with this Seahawk team vs 2005 team?

Both had 13-3 records. In 2005...Seattle offense was ranked #1 in NFL (pts scored)...this year it's 8th. This year's defense is ranked #1 in points allowed...2005 team is was ranked #7.

Hassleback: 3,459 yds, 65.5%, 24 TD's, 9 INT

R. Wilson: 3,357 yds, 63.1%, 26 TD's, 9 INT

Almost perfectly identical

S. Alexander: 1,880 yds rushing, 27 rushing TD's

M. Lynch: 1.257 yds rushing, 12 rushing TD's

This was Alexander's prime..top back in the NFL

2005 WR: B. Engram, D.Jackson, J. Jurevicius, J. Stevens

2013 WR: G. Tate, D. Baldwin, Z. Miller, J. Kearse

I have to say I would favor the 2005 squad at WR

As for defense...this year's team is better against the pass, whereas the 2005 team was tough against the run.

Coaches...2005 Mike Holmgren...2013 Pete Carroll.

Thoughts on better/worse? Obviously a different opponent this year in Super Bowl.

Update:

Good point about the NFC West....it was awful that year. And also the Seahawks faced Mark Brunell/Redskins in the 1st round, J. Delhomme /no RB/ Carolina in the 2nd round. Probably best-case scenario matchups for that Seattle team

The difference that this team is better and tested against tougher competition. In 2005 the NFC West was the worst division in the league, now it is the best.

For a few years, the Seahawks took advantage of a very weak NFC West to make the playoffs. this year, 2 of their 3 losses were in the division. That year they went 6-0.

The defense is obviously much better this year, and Hasselbeck was a much more dynamic passer. The 2005 team had a much better offensive line.

They had some tough teams in their conference so I think they are prepped already for tough teams. I think also the AFC is weaker than it has been in the past. Not that Denver is not a good team but Seattle should win this game I think because I believe they can come up with a scheme on defense to slow down the Denver offense.

I am rooting for Denver...but usually in these big games they are not high scoring affairs and if this is a game in the 20's I think Seattle wins.

But, if I were good at predicting these things I would not be working a day job...

I think the NFC West is alot better this year than they were in 2005 but they also werent playing the likes of a payton manning #1 offensive team but a stout steelers defense instead

They had a better offense in 2005, but I think they have a better overall team this year...

The Seahawks didn't have any fans in 2005, well none of the same fans.
