  • Can anyone here give an Eagles fan some sort of positive explanation and encouragement towards 2016?

Doug Pederson? He has a 3-14 career record as a QB. Fine...he is a better coach than player. Chiefs offense was 21st, 25th, and 27th in yards gained under Pederson. They are actually getting worse every year under him!. Passing yards...24th, 29th, 30th!. Should I feel good that he doesn't even call offensive plays in Kansas City? Andy does that. Is this guy even remotely close to being ready to being an NFL head coach? I'm sure he is a nice guy like all the reports say he is. And to think it came down to Pederson and Tom Coughlin? WTF are you thinking Jeff Lurie? We haven't won a playoff game since 2008! And the sad part is we actually have had hope of going deep into the playoffs in almost every year since 2008. If Pederson fires DC Bill Davis then I will have a glimmer of hope

  • As an Eagles fan, what am I rooting for?

Chip has us in a conundrum. Sam Bradford is in the last year of his contract, and is a free agent after the season is over. 1) If Sam Bradford continues to play poorly, then obviously we thank him for nothing, and start our hunt for a new QB....setting us possibly to a "rebuilding" era (Yes, I now RG3 is out there, and would prefer to look elsewhere). 2)If Sam Bradford turns things around, and starts to play like Chip wants/expects....then it is rumored that Bradford/agent want around $20 million/year...with around $45 million guaranteed. I don't want that kind of long term cash hanging on his bad knees.

Obviously originally I was hoping to win the Super bowl this year, then let Bradford walk. But we are lost offensively, and I'm not sure we can win 8 games this year.

  • Any Eagle's fans have nightmares when Bradley Fletcher was getting toasted last night?

I was minding my own business, dozing in/out as Collinsworth rambled on when I was awoken to the words "Bradley Fletcher was badly beaten on the play". I thought this was a nightmare. This can't be! When I finally came to, I realized he was wearing a Patriot uniform. Phew! All I have to say to the Patriot's fans...I hope you like your toast burnt. Actually Patriot Nation should be prepared come October 11th...Bradley has 2 nicknames..."burnt toast" and "Dez Bryant's B*tch". As an Eagles fan, I can't argue.

  • Should the Eagles trade Tim Tebow?

Buy low sell high. Tebow had decent stats last night. The guy seems to still make headlines, even though he is fighting for the 3rd string position. There are suckers for QB's all through the league, and Tebow generates fan interest. If my Eagles actually have to play Tebow at QB for any amount of extended time, then the season is lost. Come on Chip...hammer the phone lines today. Anything in return ends up being a good investment. Most Eagles beat writers say that he has not been as good as Barkley throughout preseason practices. Doesn't have the arm, accuracy, or knowledge of the offense. It doesn't matter to us Eagle's fans who is the 3rd string QB...the season is over even if we have to go with Sanchez let alone Barkley or Tebow. Oakland loves these type of guys. Houston is hurting. Send him to Jacksonville, where they love him down there. They need something to get excited about. Anyone.

  • Can someone explain to me how this is going to all turn out to be a good thing?

I'm an Eagles fan. We have lost Trent Cole, Todd Herremans, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy, and Nick Foles. We have signed Byron Maxwell, Mark Sanchez, and Sam Bradford. Is this a nightmare? Is Frank Gore (and his Wonderlic score of 6...tied for 3rd all time lowest)...smart enough to realize that Chip is creating a disaster in Philly? Who gives anything for Sam Bradford...let alone a starting QB who is 15-9 and is still under his rookie contract? Some Cowboy fan has to of hacked into Chip's computer and is making these moves

  • How deep can this Ray Rice saga go?

Just saw that authorities can prove that they sent the tape to the NFL...and can prove that the NFL received it....back in April. Rice was sentenced in May...Goodell handed down suspension in July. If Roger didn't see video, what evidence did he take into account? Can he fairly decide punishment if he fails to look at everything? Why did it take 2 months after court decision for Goodell to decide? What did Ray and Roger talk about when they met? Hope they didn't review the video that Roger claims to have never seen....because now Goodell is calling Rice a liar in a roundabout way. Wouldnt look good if Rice came public and say they watched the video. Or is there a lot of "hush money" being handed out? Now we have SF CEO Jed York saying "Ray McDonald is not Ray Rice...don't unfailry punish Ray". Well Mr. York, your boy is facing FELONY domestic violence charges...against a pregnant finacee...who had visible injuries. I hope your right Mr. York, because it's not a good time to be sticking up for woman beaters.

  • How do you foresee Goodell/NFL suspension of Ray Rice playing out?

Ok...keeping personal feelings about abuse at bay..1).Are there examples of a team/NFL terminating a contract (and not paying it) even though the player was available to play? (ex: Aaron Hernandez is essentially AWOL since he can't show up while he is in jail, thus they can terminate his contract). But Rice is not in jail, was disciplined by court of law and Goodell already, and Rice has not committed any further crimes.

2)It is being rumored by reporters that the NFL indeed did have access to the "bad" video. This opens up a huge can of worms if it is true (and what if the NFLPA can prove it). Goodell made the decision of a 2 game decision. But now that the world has seen the video, Roger now suspends him indefinitely and allows Ravens to terminate the contract. This violates even the new domestic abuse policy. It's not Rice's fault that Goodell let him off the hook for 2 games earlier. It would be similar to a judge sentencing someone to 6 months in jail....then after person has served 5 months, the judge says "you know what, I'm gonna give you another 6 months in jail" even though no furthur crime was committed.

Thanks for reading...try to not let personal feelings interfere.

  • Can you help me understand?

Ray Rice appears to have knocked out his now-wife, and tried dragging her through the casino hotel (which is more dumb....hitting her or trying to drag her out of a casino?). Although Rice has pleaded not guilty to the assault charges (probably to get a lesser plea bargain?)...he has issued these statements through his lawyer: "they had a disagreement, he made a mistake, he is ashamed of his actions and sorry". Ray Rice is not suspended or fined. I know this is not the Miami Dolphins or the NBA...but you would think that beating your girlfriend is not consistent with the values and standards of the Ravens organization. Quite the contrary actually. GM Ozzie Newsome has said "he is clearly in our plans for 2014" and "we know there is much more to Ray Rice than this one incident". Raven's owner Steve Biscotti supports Rice...saying "If everybody was one strike and you're out, then we all would be in trouble". And then asked whether he was concerned about his team's image, Bisciotti said, "I'm disappointed, but I'm not concerned."

Miami suspends/fines Don Jones for tweeting "OMG" and "Horrible" (not a crime, but Dolphins deemed it not consistent w/ values of organization. Donald Sterling is banned for life for asking girlfriend to not bring blacks to NBA games or publicize pics of her w/ blacks. Again, no crime...but NBA deemed it unacceptable.

Is beating women more tolerable than being prejudice?

  • Who do you think the Broncos could actually beat tonight?

I can't recall seeing a team playing this poorly in the Super Bowl in a long time....possibly the Giants vs Baltimore in Super Bowl XXXV. The Broncos look extremely slow and sluggish...trying to cover that KR....the INT return....but every play. I don't know if Denver could beat Jacksonville tonight. I want to give credit to Seattle...but they came to play while Denver is still asleep. I will say this...Seattle is putting putting the foot on the Bronco's throat....they are closing this mess so far

  • Jimmy Graham debate....what is he?

Saints front office said today that they want to get Graham a long term deal, but would put the franchise tag on him if they have to. Graham wants nothing to do with the franchise tag. However, there will be a nasty debate that the NFL is going to have to sort out. What position does Jimmy Graham play? The franchise tag value for a TE is in the $6 million dollar range, while WR is in the $10 million dollar range. According to official stats, he lined up as a WR 67% of the time in 2013. Saints are prepared to fight to make sure he is officially a TE when applying the franchise tag to save money. Graham is going to fight that he plays most of his snaps as a WR.

  • Who in the AFC is running scared now?

Browns just introduced new Head Coach Mike Pettine....he says his nickname is BFT (Blunt Force Trauma)! Browns were lucky because Pettine admitted to a Buffalo beat writer that he almost turned the Browns down too....and was about to if the process dragged out any longer. Cleveland met with 10 people in person (interviews) and contacted several more than that by phone. I guess that puts Pettine as the Brown's 20-something choice? Good enough for a 5 year contract...probably be fired after 2.

Next up...who does a man with ho head coaching experience, who is going to be in charge of the worst run franchise in the NFL...find coordinators when most of them have already signed. Please...no Dave Wannestedt.

  • Excitement building in Cleveland?

Looks like they found a candidate that not only showed up for 1 interview for the vacant head coaching position, but is scheduled for a 2nd interview. Mike Pettine..defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills. Pretty much been attached to the hip with Rex Ryan ...at Baltimore then Jets. Mediocre with the Bills as DC for 1 season. Vastly improved passing defense, created turnovers, got Mario Williams back to earning some of that paycheck. But they were awful against the run.

They are also going to try and interview Dirk Koetter...offensive coordinator for the Falcons. Probably got overlooked by most teams after what Atlanta did on offense this year. You can't fool the Browns though.

Anyway, let's have some Brown's fun. They have a high draft pick (shocker I know) and need a QB (shocker I know). We will narrow it down to the last 8 years of Brown's starting QB's...which one would you take to be the starter on your franchise team?

Charlie Frye, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Ken Dorsey, Bruce Gradkowski, Colt McCoy, Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace, Brandon Weeden, Thad Lewis, Jason Campbell, and Brian Hoyer.

For me, it was Derek Anderson....but it ended ugly when he went to Arizona and Ken whisenhunt

  • Super Bowl going to be a surprise?

I think we are going to be spoon fed how this match-up is Denver's high octane offense vs Seattle's stingy defense. However...I think we may be in for a surprise. Denver averaged 40 pts/game through the first 13 games this season. However, over the last 5 games they have only averaged 28. And the last 3 "legit" opponents they played (SD x 2 and NE) they only averaged 23 pts/game. I think if you tell any Seahawk fan that Denver is only going to score 23 pts, they would take it in a heartbeat.

However...not so fast...lol. New England would of probably taken 26 also, and the Charger would of taken 24. The odd turn of events is Denver's defense. Nobody has scored more than 17 points in 4 straight games on the Denver D. Only 1 team has rushed for over 100 yds (as a combined total for the team) in the last 6 games (Seahawks have given up 100+ yds 4 of the last 6 games)That's amazing. But to combine it with the fact that only 1 team has thrown for more than 200 yds in the last 6 games against Denver is incredible (Hawks 1 better...1 time in last 7).

Is this going to be a defensive battle? Is it going to be a 24-21 type of final score? Seattle's defense is vulnerable to the run...but I don't think Denver wants to run the ball.

    2 AnswersFootball (American)7 years ago
  • What is main difference with this Seahawk team vs 2005 team?

Both had 13-3 records. In 2005...Seattle offense was ranked #1 in NFL (pts scored)...this year it's 8th. This year's defense is ranked #1 in points allowed...2005 team is was ranked #7.

    Hassleback: 3,459 yds, 65.5%, 24 TD's, 9 INT

    R. Wilson: 3,357 yds, 63.1%, 26 TD's, 9 INT

    Almost perfectly identical

    S. Alexander: 1,880 yds rushing, 27 rushing TD's

    M. Lynch: 1.257 yds rushing, 12 rushing TD's

This was Alexander's prime..top back in the NFL

    2005 WR: B. Engram, D.Jackson, J. Jurevicius, J. Stevens

    2013 WR: G. Tate, D. Baldwin, Z. Miller, J. Kearse

I have to say I would favor the 2005 squad at WR

As for defense...this year's team is better against the pass, whereas the 2005 team was tough against the run.

    Coaches...2005 Mike Holmgren...2013 Pete Carroll.

Thoughts on better/worse? Obviously a different opponent this year in Super Bowl.

  • Michael Crabtree a #1 WR?

Eagles fan here, so I'm neutral. Would like rational SF fan's opinions, along with other rational fans. Let's go with Richard Sherman for a second....and talk about MIchael Crabtree's worth. His contract is up after the 2014 season. Jim Harbaugh plays him up to have the "best hands of all time". Obviously that's over the top. But here is a guy that really has only had only 1 season of note..85 catches for 1105 yds and 9 td's. Other than that, it's not real pretty. Now he was hurt this season...but in the games he did play his stats don't jump out at you. So as a GM, how much money would you give Crabtree? Would you want to sign him long term as your #1 WR? For me it's an easy no....I feel his "perceived worth" in the NFL is far higher that I think his actual worth would be to the team. I think Boldin is the superior WR on that team....and I would give Boldin a nice fat 2 year contract with no itention of resigning Crabtree after this season (he is going to ask for big time money). Keep in mind that Crabtree is going to try and stay healthy and put up as big of numbers as he can this year to jack up his asking price.

  • Why did your team lose?

Not for Seattle/Denver fans. The dust has settled....most people have had time to come down and think rationally. I have read just about every excuse there is....referees, WR's too small, injuries, cheating, etc. See if you can give a reason why your team is no longer playing....and if possible, try to do it without blaming the referees. I will start: my team is the Eagles. According to our defensive coordinator, we went into the Saints playoff game with the mindset of stopping Brees and the passing attack....to which we did. Unfortunately, the Saints rolled their sleeves up, and pounded the heck out of us with a running game....and we were completely unprepared. It was a beat down, and it was ugly. Rob Ryan also had the Saints defense aimed at stopping McCoy...and blitzed Foles. Both worked.

  • Any coaches that suffer tougher losses than Harbaugh?

2 years ago he loses NFC Championship vs Giants in overtime on a muffed punt. Last year he loses a tough Super Bowl to his brother. This year he loses another tough NFC Championship. I don't really care much for him....but it has to be tough. He puts together very tough teams....put together a very good record in his short NFL career.

  • Difference between Kaepernick and Vick?

Serious only here (dog fighting aside). This is Kaepernick's 3rd season....he has played in big games...but he reminds me of Michael Vick back in the day.....right down to the same number (7). Great scramblers, cannon arms, not real accurate....and will make a couple incredible plays only to be undone by a bad play. From what I have seen in other 49er games (only a handful this season)...I think Kaepernick would rather be a game manager...and only try to "take over" when needed....whereas Vick would have the pedal to the metal all game..so that would be a difference. Tonight Kaepernick isnt getting a ton of help
