If no one told you about God, what would make you believe?

What real life thing happened that would have made you think there was a supreme being?

Please no clichés about looking with my heart or trees exist so there's my proof.

I have had miracle after miracle after miracle, I would have to be a liar if I told you I don't believe at this point, there is no way that it could just be luck or fate. When you make an effort to do what God says for you to do and you are obedient he will answer your prayers. I just wrote out a whole list of things but Yahoo put a delete at the top right corner where you usually would push to scrole up and it arased it all, I don't have time to re write it. It's bed time sorry.

The very question of how things come into being, would someday cross my mind. How is it that a seed planted in September or October, will NOT grow until Spring time? What causes it to know when to grow?

What makes a caterpillar, which eats nothing but leaves from a certain tree, suddenly stop doing this and go into a cocoon, and emerge as a butterfly, that will NOT eat leaves at all, but now eats nectar?

What makes a hummingbird, be able to fly in any direction, instantly, and so precisely. And it's tiny brain being able to control the magnificent maneuvers it does.? It can hover in one spot, fly upside down, and even backwards. What makes it so special, and why?

Questions about what I see, is what will make me wonder, because I know that I can put some lumber on the ground, and some nails, and a hammer. And let them set for ten years, and NOTHING will be done. No house, no barn, nothing. But as a human with INTELLIGENCE, I can make those things into something useful. Without some sort of guidance, it could not happen.

Unless we question our very being, we will never know anything. Animals are not aware of God nor of the universe, nor even of the Earth they live on. They do not know the Earth is round, that trees are alive, nor anything that takes awareness.

And our very having awareness, makes us wonder, WHY us and only us? We think, there must be something MORE to all this, then just living and dying.

And so, a greater being capable of creating, comes to mind.

Well that is flaming illogical, because children are overwhelmingly theist. But I'll let that pass.

Reason. Read Aristotle's Metaphysics and the First Cause is inescapable to my mind. And being a highly educated person I see Jesus all over Bach and Shakespeare.

God is not strictly speaking a belief.

The existence of God and other like truths about God, which can be known by natural reason, are not articles of faith, but are preambles to the articles; for faith presupposes natural knowledge, even as grace presupposes nature, and perfection supposes something that can be perfected. Nevertheless, there is nothing to prevent a man, who cannot grasp a proof, accepting, as a matter of faith, something which in itself is capable of being scientifically known and demonstrated.

If no one taught me about God, I wouldn't be aware of his "existence", therefor I wouldn't believe. I'd be where I am now, except I wouldn't know his name.

I'm basically saying if no one has ever heard of a religious figure, they won't believe in that figure.

And nothing could make me believe in any 'higher power'. Not even a near death experience (which I've had a couple). Personally, I don't see the point in believing, so I won't.

I was never taught or told about God. I mean one day (in my teens) I just sorta understood what it MEANT but I'd never been introduced to it. Ever. I've been to church once in my life for my cousins wedding. :P

I am currently agnostic (if you want a label) but I think nothing would make me believe (as its like now) I just choose to put my faith in myself, my family, friend and mankind.

Yeah, things happen for a reason, but as far as I'm concerned, God's only a vague possibility as a life choice in the grander scheme of things. I rather place my beliefs and time elsewhere.

Those things are called testimonies. There is testimonial evidence that God's Word is true.

    Testimony is one's proof.
