Fresh fruit
Fresh vegetables
Milk
Yogurt
Cheese
Eggs
Whole wheat bread/pita/rolls
Whole grain crackers
Meat
I keep staples and stocks on hand, such as brown rice, canned legumes, canned soups, butter, herbal teas, herbs & spices, and baking supplies.
Occasionally I buy some nuts or some granola bars.
I almost never buy any junk, frozen, or processed foods (except those listed above: canned legumes & soups, yogurt and cheese).
Nor juices (would rather eat the raw, whole fruit).
Nor soda pop.
Of course, I buy toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, shampoo, laundry and dish detergents, etc. But those are household, not grocery, items.

First I bought 2 deep freezes and bought meats/ ice cream and other goods. So when I go shopping I buy cases of peaches, mandarian oranges in cans for anytime eating. Sometimes I pick out new foods to taste. I bought soups that are in aluminum cups and now I have about 6 of them with red tops, so I can use them in the microwave warming any other kinds of soup. I believe those soups are red n white Campbell's soups containers. I buy Chicken, like drum sticks and thighs in separate packages inside of one big package. Another thing I found dollar store sell's fresh chicken/ fresher than Costco's or Sam's Club, infact dollar store sells smaller tv dinners for a dollar each and I heat 2 together for snacks to save money. Their Vienna Sausages small cans are only 50 cents a can, but if you buy the big can, there all cut up inside. They have popular brands you normally pay a higher price for in normal grocery stores. Lots of fruit and veg [cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, onions, new potatoes, butternut squash, courgettes, swede, leeks, mushrooms, spring onions, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, mange tout, apples, oranges, Clementines, grapes and bananas]
Lean meat [chicken, turkey, pork steaks, rump or sirloin steak]
The only tinned food we buy is baked beans and plum tomatoes.
Olive oil spread, strong wholemeal bread flour [l make my own bread], eggs, skimmed milk, orange juice, prunes, sultanas, bran flakes, porridge.
And the usual cleaning products [but not every week, of course].

Yogurt, cheese, milk, eggs, bacon, cereal (whole grain with seeds), fresh produce, good quality bread, fresh fruit. If I buy meat, it's chicken breast. Peanut butter, tea, coffee and half and half.
