How could I volunteer in the Dominican Republic?

I'm familiar with Global Brigades, but it's limited to only four countries. I'm a college student interested in Public Health. Are there any programs affiliated with American students and Public/Medical Health to help low income communities in the Dominican Republic? Or even Puerto Rico for that matter?

During their service in the Dominican Republic, Volunteers learn to speak the local languages, including Spanish and basic Haitian Kreyol. More than 4,390 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in the Dominican Republic since the program was established in 1962."
