Need help with Excel 2010 - Finding value in unordered list?
I have a column of calculated values. The data I am changing will cause the numeric order of the column to also change (If I sort for one calculation, I'll have to resort after making the changes). I don't want to resort each and every time.
Here's where I have a snag. Each time, there will - of course - be a maximum value. Finding this is no problem for me. The problem is that I also need the SECOND highest value, which may appear anywhere in the column. Is there any way of finding this value without sorting?

Assuming you are evaluating the range A1:A30, you can use the LARGE function:
=LARGE(A1:A30,2)
