Are there cheaper ways to get a key?

I have a 1999 Mazda B3000. I lost the key for it and need to replace it. The dealer said it wold cost up to $200 to replace because of the computer chip inside. Are there ways to get one made cheaper? Some sort of lock smith who has that skill? Thank you for your answers.

The national lock smith chain could make you a spare key but if you have no key you will need to go through a main dealer for your brand of car.

There's a chip in the keys with an ID code.

Some locksmiths and even Home Depot can clone an existing key, but if you don't have an existing one, the dealer has to get into the computer and program it to take a new one. $200 is a little high. $140 is the usual price. Once you get the first one made, you can get a clone for $70.

I would call a couple locksmiths and ask around. They might be able to do it for you at a cheaper cost

If you have no keys then the dealership is the only one that can help you.
