If bill is sent to collections?

So I have a dilema with the apartment complex i was going to rent at, they are claiming i owe 100 for 'holding' the apartment while the application was being processed, as it took too long I decided to look elsewhere. So now they are saying I owe the 100, but I've tried disputing it, and I just don't want to pay it. I'm assuming they will send it to collections. HOw bad is 100 dollars towards the credit score?

Any account in collections is very bad on a credit report thus harming your credit score. The amount is an issue as the less it is the better but it is very bad period.

The amount of money isn't really the issue. Anything in collections, whether it's one dollar of five million dollars, is very bad, because it is in collections.
