What government was or is the closest to being a true democracy?

    Any mob!

    Democracy is 3 wolves & 2 sheep deciding whats for dinner. I'm glad I live in a republic, just wish it was under the control of statesmen rather than politicians.

    any representative democracy is a compromise

    direct democracy is a rare thing

    I believe it has been reckoned that a community of more than 120 persons would make it unworkable

    I believe there have been various communities that have engaged with direct democracy, a town in nthn Scotland stands out in my mind but I dont recall the name of it
