dodge dakota engine noise?
i have a 05 dodge Dakota that has the 4.7l. at startup it has some nastly lifter noise and developed a valve knock on start up and as soon as it warms up for about 1.5 minutes the car is silent it runs completely fine. the oil light also pops up when it starts as well. i has a oil leak coming out of the cranks shaft seal in which im going to fix tomorrow. it kind of seams like either the engine is losing vauum from the cranks shaft seal and causing poor vaccuum on start up or the oil pump is failing. i have yet to drive it for the last 4 days encase something goes bad and im out of a vehicle.

I've had three 4.7's and they are sensitive to needing frequent oil changes. If they get gummed/sludged up, they develop lifter issues and can spit rocker followers from under camshaft. Also when they get older the exhaust manifold gaskets and manifolds themselves can leak making ticking type noise.
