Why don't people name their kids Carol or Linda anymore?
What was wrong with these names? When my parents were born (late 1940s) these were some of the most popular girl's names. But by the time I was born (1969) nobody named them that anymore. Why is this?
Joey - My name is Joey too. I don't think "Joey" is a dated name, as I know people my age and much older and younger named Joey.

Times change. Those names are considered old fashioned and outdated now. Some names like William, James, Elizabeth and Catherine can last for centuries and stand the test of time. Unfortunately, Linda and Carol haven't. Maybe in the next 50 years or so they will come back into fashion when people start digging into their ancestry for names. When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's, names like Emma, Sophia, Henry and Oliver were considered old and ugly. I didn't know anyone who gave their kids those names. Now they're everywhere. Jennifer, Michelle and Lisa were super common then but hardly anyone uses them now.

Because they're "dated" to your parents generation. Just as your name is dated to your generation. They'll come back round again in a few decades when the age the associate to has died off.
But Joey has never been in the top 5-10 for an entire generation. It's never been completely overdone and worn out by one particular age group.

I know one Linda but no Carols younger than your bench mark. Names like everything, go in and out of fashion, why else do you think Hazel and Matilda are being used again after a long hiatus.

Linda and carol sound like a bunch of snotty old ladies. I dont like the name but it would be so much better If it were lydia and Caroline.

It's just a generation thing. I love Joey. Not Joseph though. Joey's on my list.

Well I just don't like them. They they remind me of old ladies. Aren't very youthful or cute. But that is just my opinion :)
