Starting hockey at 15?
Hi, I've always loved hockey and i'm a huge hockey fan, my brother plays and i have equipment available. Is it to late to start and play hockey? I cant skate great but im not terrible either. I plan on taking more classes and going to open skate. I'm not sure if i will be good enough to ever be accepted on to a team though. Will i be able to join a league in say a year or so?

practice, practice, practice……..practice your skating, train hard, and learn the game as much as possible. You might have a little bit of a catch up but 15 is certainly not too late to begin. Your ability to join a league will be based on how hard you work for the next year.

I would definately take some skating lessons before you start (you will annoy the crap out of everyone if you don't at least know how to skate) I would also take a class in basic hockey skills to learn how to stick handle and how to shoot etc... But as for joining a league, I would highly suggest it! The only way you can improve your hockey skills is to join a team and play. However, I wouldnt get my hopes up too high of making anything higher than A2 if you are just starting playing. Hope that helped :)
