What were some of the more ludicrous ailments that were known as pre existing conditions under the old law?

I'll start, Asthma!

Insurance companies wouldn't give you coverage if you had asthma. Really! So a child born with this, could never get insurance.

What other ailments would insurance companies use to reject clients, and send them to the government to get health insurance?

I know of at least one case where someone was diagnosed with cancer, THEN the insurance company put their team of researchers on it (yes, they had full-time employees dedicated to denying you), and discovered that she had acne medication when she was 18. They dropped her in the middle of chemo.

Being a woman is a pre-existing condition for some.

Just last summer they tried not paying for a newborns heart problem on the grounds that he was only covered at birth, and the heart problem was present in the womb.

These are the kinds of people Republicans want us to trust for our health insurance coverage.

The children had asthma, they just weren't covered for it. It was a preexisting condition if they had it and daddy changed jobs, and insurance along with it, then came something called portability so that you could bridge your insurance from one job until the next job covered you. But if you were diagnosed before the second job you were out of luck.

Asthma is a pretty common disorder.

They don't turn people down for insurance because of it.

Many women have been labeled as having "per-cancerous breasts" it wasn't a medical diagnosis just a justification for denying coverage, it could mean just about anything.
