Congrats, I just got one too and am loving it.
You need to log in to a provider. Go to an internet cafe and pay to log in there so you can see how it's done. Then if you want to connect from home you'll have to sign up with a provider. Not sure about providers in US- do you have Optus or Vodafone there?
I have WiFi here in Australia with Optus (used mainly for my Mac laptop) so just logged into my account when I first got the Tablet 3 and now it's on all the time.
