Learning to Fly ~ Pink Floyd
I sort of lost interest in the Floyd (unbelievable, I KNOW!) after The Wall... and missed a few of their later gems until relatively recently. It was only about 3-4 years ago that I heard this song and just fell straight in love with it. And no, I don't listen to the radio either (because I later learned that it was a huge hit back when it was new).

"A Day in the Life" -- The Beatles
The first time I heard "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was when I was about 11, and it was on a tape (backed with "Revolver") that my dad had made back in 1978. I listened to it in the car with him, and I already thought it was a fantastic album, full of great melodies and instrumentation. Then we came to "A Day in the Life", which my dad told me was his favorite song of all time. It started off simply enough, but it kept building in tension with every moment -- even Paul's happy mid-section kept me on my toes. In the last minute, the orchestra blaring furiously, all I could think was "Gee, this is going great, but how could they possibly finish it?" Then came the single piano note, overdubbed and amplified, and it felt like a thunderbolt had hit me. Of every song I've listened to, "A Day in the Life" is the only one I can compare to a religious experience, as cliche as that sounds -- it just astounded me that a song could be written like that, and it's influenced the way I look at music ever since. To this day it is still my favorite song of all time, just as with Dad.

That could be a lot of them including my favorite Zeppelin song "When The Levee Breaks". But here is a recent one that blew me away with it's slide guitar.

Something about the drums, it's just primal, it really hit me like a brick wall.
