12 Week old min pin ears were standing. suddenly overnight they flopped. what is the chance of them standing ?

I have heard it might be due to teathing which she does show signs of.

what are the chances the ears will stand again by themselves ? How ling might this take. Is tapingvthem recomended ?

I was going to schedule her for ear cropping....will this affect anything I terms of standing ?

I see this all the time with my foster puppies. If the puppy's ears do this, it always turns out that their ears stand as adults. This is just a normal part of puppyhood. They're growing so much, sometimes the ears will be larger, and they will flop, but they grow into them.

I think it's safe to say, if they were standing, the will most likely stand when she's fully grown. I don't see any need to crop your dog's ears, unless you plan to show her. It's putting her through an unnecessary surgical procedure.

Please read, I am not scolding, some people just don't know the truth about cropping, maybe this will make you rethink this decision.

I am entirely against cropping. There is absolutely no medical gain, it's just a cosmetic procedure people put their dogs through to make them look more like the breed, or to make them look tough. It is unnecessary pain. Dogs use their ears to express emotion, and when you crop them you are taking that reflex away. It can lead to some unnecessary anxiety later down the road. Also, their ears fold over to protect the inner ear from infections and bacteria. When you crop them they are much more exposed and can develop ear infections easily. The only reason they began cropping dobermans ears was because they were bred as guard dogs. If your dog is a working dog, I can understand getting their ears cropped, but if you are going to crop a pets ears, I think it is just pointless. Especially a toy dog like a min pin. I really think you should think about this. Your dog isn't asking you to crop her ears, it's really unfair.

Once again, not scolding, just making sure you know all the facts. Plus, floppy ears are way cuter :)

    I agree with Girl.

I have done some research on breeds with naturally standing ears. I have heard: 1) You can tape them up and they will eventually stay. Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scjjqpTPxes 2) Add a little cottage cheese or plain yogurt to their diet to encourage them to stand naturally.

And yes you are correct, they can flop during teething.

If they don't stand, who cares!

YOu need to get her in for cropping asap if she is 12 weeks old already. The cropping will over ride any genetics.
