How can I set up a network between my laptop and desktop?

My laptop has Windows Vista and my desktop has Windows XP, the laptop connects to my wifi hub through a wireless connection and the desktop is plugged into the hub with a network cable. I also have a wifi printer.

Buy a wireless router just connect it by Ethernet to your desktop then connect all of your products directly to your wireless hub to set the connection directly. But if you want to establish a connection between the desktop and the laptop is you have to share the Wi-Fi and so your laptop can connect to your desktop via the Wi-Fi you setup on your desktop. A good site to help share your Wi-Fi connection with your devices is http://www.geekyblogger.com/2008/05/sharing-intern...

by the way you have to connect your printer directly to the hub using wpa for a wireless printer which uses Wi-Fi.

You may just need a WiFi adapter for your desktop in order to connect all devices through Wireless.

Considering you obviously have a wireless router that answer is totally stupid. All you need to do is set up sharing on whichever machine you want to put the files to share. Right click the folder with the shared files an select properties and then sharing.
