    We know that the total volume of the box is 72 square feet and the equation for volume is LengthxWidthxHeight. If you rewrite the variables for length and width in terms of height (ie. L=H+9 and W=H-1) you can substitute them in the volume equation. Once you have solved for height you can substitute it into the Length and width equations to get the other values.

    L x W x H = 72

    L = H+9

    W= H-1

    H = H .... so (H+9)*(H-1)*H = 72 ... and do the math; then plug back in.

    or, start at H=1 and work your way up.
