Waiting in the military?

I applied for Combat engineeir about 6 months ago and so far I have done my aptitude test and my personality test the last test I took was in mid november and since then I have heard nothing I call them every week and they always tell me the same thing "could be a day could be a year" the thing is though all my friends who applied are getting in much faster not waiting nearly as much as I have.

That bothers me alot I have wanted to do this for 19 years (Im 19 btw) this is my dream I have been working my *** off to get me in shape I have been reading up on every single book I could find about the Canadian military I have more drive then any one else I have never wanted any thing more in my life and yet I find my self watching all these people get in and Im still stuck hear waiting.

It hurts alot

Any help or advice?

it's all based on job title. if this is what you really want; be willing to wait.

i got greedy and took a job that "looked like something i could do". my scores qualified for it and they woudl send me to school - so why not.

i SUCKED at my job. i wish i waited for my first choice job.

Are you asking about the American military or the Canadian military?

I'm asking because you're on the default American Y/A but you're talking about Canadian military.

I'm sure both side would depend on when there is an opening in the class for your MOS.

  • Ask the recruiter what MOS's are available for quick enlistment and see if any of them strike your fancy. I'm most familiar with the U.S. Marine Corps and I know peeps who have waited upwards of a year to get infantry or even longer for MP....everyone is drawing down...it's a far cry when I enlisted in early 2002...from the time I signed my infantry contract I was standing on the yellow foot prints at Parris Island 3 weeks later..
