why on earth is ford discontinuing the e-series van?

this is the 3rd biggest mistake they did. crown vic, ranger, and now e-series. they are built tough and can take LOTS of abuse. and they basically discontinued the explorer, its just a taurus x with the explorer name. why didnt they discontinue the explorer instead.

It's all about profitability. They keep what makes them the most money and scrap what costs them.

The Crown Vic went the way of all the full size gas hogs but the Ranger was the one I couldn't understand. They're every where and the price on most goes up as the years go by. Best damn pickup Ford made so far as I'm concerned.

Source(s): I would buy a new truck IF Ford still made the Ranger. Guess I'll just have to keep driving my '01.

They are bringing in their Transit vans from Europe over here. The Transit Vans would be in competition of the Econoline series. Plus the newer vans have better aerodynamics over the E-series. Hospitals were using the E-series for ambulances for years but I have seen a few switching to F-series super duty trucks for those.

The Ranger definitely wasn't a mistake to axe. The F150 fills in just fine. The Exploder was basically 95% Expedition look-alike before it got turned into a momymobile, though I have no idea why the Edge and Flex need to clog things up as well.

No need to clog up a vehicle lineup like GM with five of everything they sold did just to win the race to bankruptcy...

I just paid 900.00 for a used tranny installed. The cost of the motor would depend on what motor it is, how many miles on the replacement and numerous other things.

because its faster to have them built in Europe and sent over. than have the e 150 built locally.

yes outsourcing, it happened to nz too. was faster for ford aust to build up and send the cars to nz than it was to build them local.

and the ford transit has been in Europe for 40 years.

It should be on the passenger side in behind the park light below the battery.
